Alex Gopher, cuyo nombre verdadero es Alexis Latrobe, es un DJ francés que compone música electrónica y house. Uno de sus temas es “The child” para el que se realizó un corto/videoclip bajo la dirección de Antoine Bardoy-Jacquet, quién se inspiró en Legible City de Jeffrey Shaw de los 80s.
A través de la trama del inminente nacimiento de un bebé, este audiovisual propone un recorrido en un escenario donde el paisaje urbano se materializa a través de texto. La palabra de cada objeto sustituye la imagen del objeto en sí, adaptándose a su volumen y forma.
Esta forma de materialización puede parecernos familiar, la oficina OMA, fundada por Rem Koolhaas usa una estrategia similar a la hora de realizar diagramas. En ellos, la distribución del programa muestra mediante las diferentes palabras que se identifican con los diferentes usos de los espacios.
